The Modica PGI Chocolate Protection Consortium participates in the digital passport project developed through a partnership between the State Mint and Polygraphic Institute, CSQA Certificazioni, and Fondazione Qualivita, a system that traces the informational heritage of the PGI product’s history and directly connects the supply chain with the consumer.

The solution supports conventional traceability systems and ensures precise monitoring.

the PASSPORT

The Digital Passport for PDO and PGI products is a solution which, following the model of wine traceability labels, provides for a personalized label featuring graphics that evoke the product’s specific characteristics and incorporating security elements similar to those used in banknote printing. The label is linked to the entire body of information made available by the certification body, producers, and all involved operators, and can be accessed via the Trust Your Food® app, which also enables direct producer–consumer interaction and access to in-depth, value-added information about the product. Through the Digital Passport, communication and promotional content about the products are also provided by Fondazione Qualivita.

The innovative label offers a solution that combines anti-counterfeiting and traceability tools – such as blockchain – and communicates certified quality by activating concrete control and communication services for producers, protection consortia, authorities, and consumers.
